Objective

Compared to the regular lunge, the walking lunge has a more accelerative character, mimicking the muscle actions of acceleration during a sprint.

Development of dynamic flexibility in the hip flexor muscles, especially when the lunge is combined with trunk rotation over the lead leg or an overhead position of the arms.
